The Programme

The Galway Business School offers our EU students the option to complete the Bachelor of Business Level 7 degree programme on a part-time basis in the evening time. The Bachelor of Business undergraduate degree is accredited by Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI). It provides modern, interactive and innovative material, and delivery methods, to ensure you are prepared for the ever-changing business world. The programme is designed to develop employment focused transferrable skills that you can use in any business sector. In addition to this you will learn how to analyse and put forth solutions to diverse business problems.

Programme Learning Outcomes

The Bachelor of Business will provide students with;

  • Knowledge on essential business tools such as frameworks, concepts and models, and the know-how to use them in various business environments.
  • The problem-solving skills to comprehend analyse and provide effective solution to real business problems in their present workplace and future work environments.
  • Communications skills to effectively communicate clearly, competently and confidently to work colleagues and managers.
  • The skills in strategy to develop and implement a strategic plan towards ensuring successful results in any business sector.
  • The ability to work in a multidisciplinary team in national and international organisations and become a central member of the team.

Entry Requirements

Applicants require a minimum of 5 passes in the Leaving Certificate O6 /H7 or  a High School equivalent

GBS welcomes applicants who hold a full FETAC Level 5 award (8 modules).

Mature Students (23+)

Mature students will be considered on the basis of their previous education, work experience and demonstration of their competence to undertake the programme.

Mature applicants must have qualifications and experience deemed equivalent by the College’s QQI approved Recognition of Other Learning (ROL) and Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) policies.

Delivery Modes

Part-time (Evening)

The Bachelor of Business Part-time course runs over two evenings per week during the academic year.  The course is developed to provide Blended Learning so course material is delivered through Face-to-face learning and online e-tivities. Learners will benefit from a practical application of the theory through the mediums of case studies, group activities and research projects.

To further enrich the learning experience a number of workshops, tutorials and company visits will be arranged during the year to enrich the learning experience. This will be supported by business simulations and projects on new business development to promote creative and innovative thinking.

Timetables

Assessment

Students will be assessed in a number of different ways throughout the course. Assessments can take a number of forms such as; Written examinations, individual and group projects, presentations and mock interviews.

Academic Career & Progression Routes

Graduates of the Bachelor of Business Level 7 degree can progress on to the Level 8, Bachelor of Business (honours) with International business degree programme. This one year add-on can enhance your career abilities greatly. You may also apply for other programmes in higher level colleges in Ireland or internationally.

Following this programme graduates will be confident in applying for positions in a number of business sectors such as; Marketing, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, Finance and Business Development in SMEs of multinational companies.
